Meet Shyam Dua – A Tax Professional and a Business Mentor!

Shyam Dua is a tax expert with 40+ years of experience handling domestic and international tax planning for companies. He has been involved in several business ventures and board memberships throughout his professional career.

Shyam is also a certified mentor at SCORE, a SBA-funded non-profit. He mentors aspiring professionals and startups in Baltimore, helping them with tax planning, business plan writing, cash flow management, accounting, and more.

However, what really distinguishes Shyam is his extraordinary talent for creating business plans that result in unprecedented success.

Shyam Dua served as the Vice President of Corporate Tax at HMSHost Corp before his retirement in 2022. With his astute tax planning strategies, his expertise contributed significantly, adding over $150 million to their bottom line.

He started his career at UNC INCORPORATED(now a division of GE Engine Service) in Annapolis, where he steadily climbed the ranks from manager to assistant director in an impressive 11-year tenure.

Shyam is a CPA who graduated from the University of Baltimore with a BS in Accounting and a Master of Taxation. Beyond his professional achievements, he is a former executive board member and treasurer of Pratham U.S.A., a charitable organization that supports education in disadvantaged areas.

Born in New Delhi, India, Shyam immigrated to the United States in 1975 and now lives in Columbia, MD.

When not engaged in taxes, mentoring, or business, Shyam enjoys pursuing his passion for golf and occasionally savoring a shot of single malt whisky. His guidance does turn business dreams into reality!
