Small business grants in Georgia

What each programme pays, who it rules out, and what you have to hand over. Every entry carries the date a person last checked it against the official source. Two of the five below are closed and stay listed anyway, because the most common way to waste a week on Georgia grants is chasing one that quietly ended.

Georgia Export Grant (Go Global Georgia)

Open

Georgia Department of Economic Development, in partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration · State

Amount
Varies
Deadline
Not stated

Reimburses 75% of actual expenses per activity, or 90% for companies in SBA-defined underserved small business communities. Caps are set per activity rather than as one overall figure.

Applications run through the online portal. Activities must be approved before you spend.

What you put in

You carry the other 25% of each activity, or 10% if you qualify as an underserved community

What it funds

  • International trade show booth costs
  • International travel for trade shows, trade missions and foreign buyer trips, including airfare and lodging
  • U.S. Commercial Service programmes and services
  • Website globalisation and other costs of growing export business online
  • Design of marketing materials
  • Export credit insurance premiums
  • The ExportGA training course

Who qualifies

  • Operates in the state of Georgia and is incorporated in the United States
  • In business at least one year at the time you apply
  • Meets the SBA size standard for a small business, typically 500 employees or fewer
  • Export-ready, selling goods or services of U.S. origin or with at least 51% U.S. content
  • Has the cash to carry the cost of the activity before being reimbursed

Who does not qualify

  • Foreign-owned companies
  • Any expense incurred before the activity was approved, because this pays in arrears
  • Businesses trading under a year

How to apply

  1. Read the Go Global Georgia application guidelines
  2. Apply at gaexportgrant.submittable.com and get the activity approved first
  3. Carry out the approved activity and keep every receipt
  4. Submit the reimbursement form with proof of payment

Reimbursement, not money up front: you spend first and claim back, so you need the cash to float it. The 90% rate for underserved communities is easy to miss and worth checking before applying at 75%.

Comcast RISE

Closed

Amount
Up to $10,000
Deadline
Not stated

Closed. The last verifiable round ran 1 to 31 May 2025, and comcastrise.com now redirects permanently to Comcast Project UP.

Who qualifies

  • When it ran: small businesses, with rounds aimed at women-owned and minority-owned businesses

Who does not qualify

  • Everyone, currently. There is no open application.

Checked directly on 27 October 2026: comcastrise.com returns HTTP 301 to the Project UP page, so the programme site no longer exists. Comcast has not announced an end, so this is dormant rather than formally cancelled. Grant directories still list it as an available $10,000 grant, and so did our own previous Georgia page.

FAQ

Common questions about Georgia grants

Very few, and fewer than most lists imply. Georgia's state-level money is weighted towards exporters and towards loan and credit-guarantee programmes rather than cash grants for a new business. The Georgia Export Grant reimburses export activity for companies already trading a year or more, and the Atlanta improvement grant is for premises inside seven specific districts. If you are pre-revenue, expect loans rather than grants.
No. The last verifiable application round ran in May 2025, and comcastrise.com now redirects permanently to Comcast's Project UP page, so the programme site no longer exists. Comcast has not formally announced an end, so it is dormant rather than cancelled, but there is nothing to apply to today. It is still listed as an available $10,000 grant by many grant directories.
Three $15,000 grants are awarded every month, plus three $75,000 year-end grants. The $10,000 monthly and $25,000 annual figures still circulating are out of date. One application enters you for both. It is open across the US, not specific to Georgia.
A grant does not, but read the funding type carefully. The Georgia Export Grant is a reimbursement, which means you pay for the activity first and claim back 75%, or 90% if you are in an SBA-defined underserved community. You need the cash to carry it in the meantime. Much of what Georgia promotes as small business support is the State Small Business Credit Initiative, which is lending, not granting.
For the Atlanta improvement grant you have to show the project would not happen without the grant, which in practice means costed quotes and a financial picture. The Export Grant requires you to show you can carry the spend before reimbursement. Both are easier with a written plan and a cash flow forecast.
Every programme carries the date a person last confirmed it against the official source, shown on its entry. The bar at the top shows the most recent check across the whole list.
